Raster images are digital images (also called bitmap graphics) created or captured by scanning a photo or a hand-drawn image. Examples of raster image file types are BMP, TIFF, GIF, and JPEG. This type of digital image uses tiny rectangular pixels or picture elements arranged in a grid formation to represent an image. This means that each image is made up of pixels of different colors. They are inherently resolution-dependent, as they are made up of individual pixels or “points” of color. Making the image smaller removes pixels while making the image larger creates a visual gradient and jagged edges to the image. Raster images are not suitable for quality digitizing and must be reproduced as vector images.
Vector art files are images produced in graphic arts software that can be scaled without loss of quality. These graphics are defined by points, lines, curves, and shapes that are based on mathematical formulas known as algorithms. Unlike raster image files like .jpg or .png, vector images are not defined by pixels. Vector images, in contrast, are path-based. Every vector image is made up of a set of equations, so it is easy to scale. Vector images are independent of resolution limitations or distortions, and are easily resized as needed. The shapes and layers are also independent so as to be separated and edited easily. Unfortunately, since they are made up of equations, they will never look like realistic photos. They are more often used for logos and other non-realistic applications. These files are required for quality digitizing.
Digitizing (relative to embroidery) is the process of converting a file into a sequence of instructions the embroidery machine can interpret to sew thread in a specific way. It is also the key to a beautifully embroidered design. Each design is interpreted and hand-digitized by one of our experienced digitizers. In addition to understanding the interactions between needle, thread, the fabric substrate, and machine, we must consider the aesthetic and visual elements that make up a design and adapt it. Each fabric or textile substrate involves depth and texture, unlike a flat image on a screen or printed medium.
To put it simply, embroidery digitizing is the process of converting artwork into a digital file using software that allows embroidery machines to understand the needle's path. This process is not automated, and in fact, great digitizing is considered an art form if done correctly.

Please note that embroidery files must be reworked for caps as in stitching order and density settings.
Our designs are digitized to minimize thread changes, run smoothly on your machine, and produce crisp designs. Machines and materials are all made differently, so we know that some adjustments may be necessary. After all, there are unlimited textiles and thread types that can affect the sewout of your design. Densities within the design can be adjusted for the fabric substrate, and we can advise you on this. If your design does not sew out correctly, we will work with you on making adjustments. If you are not satisfied, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us within 10 business days for a full refund or credit to your account.
